New Beginnings
I am so excited to be writing my first blog piece for my new website - www.lannahill.com.au. Launching my personal brand has been something that has been in the works for a while - over a year in fact - but managing one business and brand (as well as two young children!) has certainly kept me busy enough!
As I do towards the end of every year, I start thinking about my goals for the following 12 months. Last year, whilst heavily pregnant with my now almost 1 year old son, I set my goals for 2017 - some felt achievable, and others a stretch. Some I didn't even write down because they felt too unreal. One of those 'unreal' goals was to start working with the media - in what capacity, I didn't even know. I've always loved public speaking (I've been a 'drama kid' since high school!), and had done plenty of it in my business life to date, but knew I wanted to do more. I'm so passionate about what I do and the thing I love about speaking is that you can get your message out on a much bigger stage, to a much wider audience. But media work seemed a whole other world away from public speaking.
Fast forward six months into 2017 (and one little boy later), and I was doing my first ever television appearance, on Channel 9 News Perth, and I had no idea what was to follow! Since then, I've done over a dozen appearances with 9, had over half a dozen radio interviews and even been published in The West Australian. Even writing this stuff feels crazy - so much has happened in such a short space of time and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come. Timing is everything and I knew once my media journey had started that it was time to launch my personal brand.
If you know my business One Small Step Business Coaching, you'll probably know what I stand for from a business perspective - I'm passionate about educating, empowering and inspiring my clients and wider community with the tools they need to achieve their business goals. One Small Step is very focused on delivering tangible, practical tools so small business owners can implement their own strategies and plans, and succeed. It's no secret that I truly, madly, deeply love what I do! And whilst there is certainly a lot of crossover between the two brands, I knew my personal brand had to stand on it's own.
So what is my personal brand about - and what can you expect to see here? I want to be known for being a pioneer in small business, and an inspiration to other women - and not just in the business community. I'm passionate about empowering women in general, and ensuring that the younger generations have all the self-belief and tools to chase after their dreams and be the game changers of the future. In general, whether it relates to business or life, I just want to encourage and inspire people to live life on their terms - have the courage to face their fears head on and go after those unreal goals.
So here you can expect to see my media appearances, speaking gigs and the occasional blog post to hopefully get those brain juices flowing!
A few quick thank you's while I have the mic - thank you to my wonderful media agents at Media Stable, to Lou Scott for being a wonderful mentor and friend, and to all of my gorgeous connections in the small business community that have been cheering me on from the sidelines. It means a lot!
So stay tuned - hopefully lots more surprises to come. I'm off to set some unreal goals for 2018!
